Google Recipe Rich Results Image Disappearing For Some?
Back in July Google fixed a bug with recipe rich results but that bug may be resurfacing according to Lisa Bryan, a food blogger. She said starting around October 15th her site, and others, started to see the images of their recipes disappear from Google’s search results. Forcing a new crawl fixes the issue temporarily and then it may disappear again.
Here is a screenshot of her site not showing the image:
She said on Twitter “It seems there’s another recipe rich snippet bug. Images aren’t showing in results (on numerous of my recipes). And I don’t show in the recipe carousel (on a top ranked result) no matter how many times you click “show more.” This started Oct 15 and got worse throughout the week. Impressions/rankings initially stayed the same, traffic plummeted without the images, now rankings are decreasing. And for Guacamole, the carousel says Carne Asada Fries.”

Yes. I learned in the last couple days if I requested re-indexing through GSC my image popped back within 20 min. So I re-indexed dozens of my top posts. I recouped some traffic. BUT, as of this morning several of the images that returned for two days are now gone again.

For example, my guacamole. You can see the time stamp on this video from this morning. I got the image back Mon, yet it’s gone again this morning. pic.twitter.com/lJfakL319D

I re-indexed (again) this morning and within minutes my image shows and I’m in the recipe carousel. But many of the recipes I re-indexed Monday already have lost snippets again. It’s not staying. And it’s like playing whack-a-mole right now to recoup my traffic losses. pic.twitter.com/7zgAnXIznh

Do you see a similar issue with your recipe markup?
