The Witcher 3 Creative Director Joins Blizzard
Sebastian Stepien, who was the head writer for Cyberpunk 2077 and one of three creative directors for The Witcher 3 at CD Projekt Red, has joined Blizzard Entertainment.
As reported by PC Gamer, Stepien’s LinkedIn profile confirms that he is now a creative director at Blizzard after working at CD Projekt RED since 2006.
Sebastian worked on the entire Witcher trilogy and was creative director of The Witcher 3 with Konrad Tomaskiewicz and Mateusz Kanik.
His leaving CD Projekt RED may indicate that his work was mostly complete on Cyberpunk 2077, which lines up with comments back in August of last year by one of CD Projekt’s producers, Richard Borzymowski, who said that while the game is missing assets and has bugs, the game can be played from beginning to end and that the story is in place.
While that may sound promising, there is still no release date or window for Cyberpunk 2077, but CD Projekt did say it was targeting current-gen consoles.
As for what Stepien could be working on at Blizzard is anyone’s guess, but there is always a chance he could be working on whatever the next mainline Diablo is, which is reportedly under development under the code name “Fenris.”
Blizzard held its annual BlizzCon conference last November and announced a new Diablo mobile game – Diablo Immortal, Warcraft 3: Reforged, a new Overwatch hero – Ashe, and much more.
