5 things to know about Destiny 2 patch 2.0.4 | Gaming News

It’s Halloween time in Destinyland, and it’s time to celebrate with all sorts of fun new items and activities. With Festival of the Lost comes 2 2.0.4. While the name may not be too appealing, it comes with quite a few welcome changes to the game.

So before you log in today, here are the five things you need to know about Destiny 2‘s new patch. For a complete list of patch notes, check out the post on Bungie’s website.

Festival of the Lost

Festival of the Lost — Destiny’s annual Halloween event — has finally come to Destiny 2. When you log in, you’ll see a wide array of spooky tower decorations, and hear some delightfully creepy music to go along with them. Tess Everis is offering up new cosmetic rewards, of course, but there is plenty of other stuff to do and collect as well.

All players will be able to enter the Haunted Forest, a version of Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris‘ Infinite Forest that has a 15-minute timer attached to it. As a reward, you’ll be able to claim a Festival-exclusive auto rifle that is guaranteed to drop at 600 power. In the last week of the event, you’ll also get sent on a quest to avenge Master Ives, the Cryptarch from the Reef.

Festival of the Lost and all of its activities are free to all Destiny 2 owners, and the event runs from Oct. 16 to Nov. 6.

Scout rifles do extra damage

Destiny’s scout rifles have been in a pretty sorry place for a bit now, but a buff has finally come through for them. According to the very vague patch notes, scout rifle damage has been increased against combatants. We aren’t exactly sure what that means or how viable the weapons are now, but they are for sure better than they were last week. Find a scout rifle you like and try out the changes.

So many bug fixes

You won’t find a single Destiny player who hasn’t complained about some kind of bug they’ve been hit by — especially at the start of an expansion. Thankfully, this patch implements fixes for quite a few big ones. One of the most frustrating bugs this patch addresses is one that caused Whisper of the Worm’s White Nail perk to not properly activate when standing inside a Rift or Well of Radiance. Other issues like the broken Gambit clan engram have also been fixed.

Iron Banner is back and useful

This week also marks the return of Iron Banner. More importantly, this patch introduces some big changes for the event’s reward structure. Lord Saladin’s bounties are now much easier to complete than before, with some of the bounty requirements being halved. If that doesn’t sound like a big deal to you, all of his bounties will now drop Powerful Gear, which should help you reach 600 a bit faster than before.

Saladin also has some really nice curated weapon rolls with him this week that you definitely shouldn’t miss out on.

Tracking quests just got easier

With patch 2.0.4, you now have the ability to track three separate items at once. That may not sound huge, but it’ll help keep you out of your menu and in the game more, which is a really nice quality-of-life change. To do this, all you need to do is drop into the menu and select three items to track. If you want to track another item, you’ll need to un-track one of the quests you already have checked.
