Bungie Reveals Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost Start Date | Gaming News
Festival of the Lost is coming back this October to Destiny 2, marking the first time the Halloween-themed event will come to the game after it skipped last year. In its weekly blog update, developer Bungie revealed that Festival of the Lost will return on Tuesday, October 16.
Bungie was light on the details, saying that a full reveal of the event is coming next week. But it sounds like the Festival of the Lost will fit in well with the themes set up by Destiny 2: Forsaken and the death of Cayde-6, as Bungie says it will be “a celebration of lost heroes.”
Expect to collect masks, as is the recurring theme of Festival of the Lost, with Bungie remarking that the event “includes a costume party.” Bungie also teased that the event would end with a quest “to solve a murder.”
It will be interesting to see how Bungie handles Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2, as this will be the first iteration for the sequel. The last time the event came to Destiny 1, it did so to very negative reactions from fans, as most of the content was locked behind microtransactions and the Eververse store. Players even coined the name “Festival of the Cost” to describe the last iteration of the event, to make sure Bungie knew their frustrations.
This will be the first live event coming off the successful launch of the Forsaken expansion, which many fans regard the best place the Destiny franchise has ever been. And considering the push and pull that fans and the developer have had over the focus of microtransactions in the game since its lifespan and the event’s historic tie to Eververse, it will be worth watching how Bungie handles the content coming with Festival of the Lost.
Expect a trailer to come out next week and more information about Festival of the Lost from Bungie.
Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
