Climate update: January 2018 | Feature Tech
January 2018 was warmer than usual across Europe, and far colder than average in southern Russia, central Asia , and across the southern and eastern USA.
Data shows last month to be two degrees warmer than average in Europe; the fourth warmest January on record.

The warm temperatures were combined with high precipitation in many parts of Europe – with France experiencing widespread flooding, while the Alpine regions saw heavy snowfall.

Sea ice coverage was below average at both poles, with Antarctica at its second lowest level on record.
