Project LinuXP Prototype #2 – Tech| Linux

In my last thread, many people were telling me that the 320 GB space requirement was just way too much, so for this build, the space requirement been GREATLY shortened down to just 26 GB. The bad news is, if you want to use more space on your USB drive besides just 26 GB, you’ll have to resize it manually with GParted or something equivalent. Yes, I know it’s a pain and I do apologize but I just don’t have a better solution at the moment. Until I can work out a custom installation solution, this will just have to do.

So what is this? LinuXP is a distro inspired by the Windows XP of old. It is designed to run solely on a 320 GB or more USB drive. Note that this is NOT A LIVEUSB INSTALL. This is an actual full-blown install on a drive that can be booted from any 64-bit computer with at least a GB of RAM. (Recommended is 2 GB)

Beyond that, the distro is designed to run as light as possible but yet have all the power and convenience that any desktop user would expect out of their OS. And coupled with Mint’s powerful Driver Manager and already incredible hardware support, you can just take the drive and boot it anywhere as long as you got access to the BIOS/UEFI.

This has been tested successfully now on two laptops and two desktops. But more testing is needed! Especially for this distribution method that I’ve chosen.

You can find the files, install instructions, and FAQ here.

And that’s it! If you’ve taken the time to test this out for yourself, you have my personal thanks. ???? Please let me know if it’s successful or not though!
