Destiny 2 Releases New Forsaken ViDoc | Gaming News
Bungie has released a ton of new information for Destiny 2 fans to digest ahead of the launch of Forsaken, including some developer insights and plans for the future of Destiny 2. Today, Bungie released a new ViDoc detailing the upcoming changes to the game, as well as what fans can expect in the months following Forsaken.
Perhaps some of the biggest announcements from the ViDoc are details about the three Annual Pass content releases: Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra. Each of the three content releases will mark the start of a new season in Destiny 2, which will bring both free and annual pass content.
Black Armory will revolve around a mysterious group of crafters who created powerful Golden-age weaponry. Joker’s Wild will focus on The Drifter, who runs Gambit, and his backstory. Penumbra is perhaps the most interesting, as Bungie revealed nothing about it other than the name. That expansion will be about exploration and unraveling secrets.
Also as part of the ViDoc, several Bungie developers discussed the changes that are going live today with Update 2.0.0 and next week with the launch of Forsaken. Today, the new weapon slot changes go into effect, which will allow players to have greater control and customization over their loadout for any given encounter.
This week will be the trail run for most players to test out the weapon system so they can hit the ground running next week in Forsaken to hunt down Uldren Sov and the Barons. Next week, players will be able to start working on new triumph to unlock special rewards, such as titles that will be displayed over a player’s gamer tag.
Forsaken seems to be Bungie’s way of breathing life back into Destiny 2, much like how they did in Destiny with The Taken King. With many quality of life updates coming today, and a ton of new content coming next week, Forsaken seems to be just what Destiny 2 needed. With the Annual Pass, it seems that Bungie is trying to avoid a content drought which the series has suffered from several times in the past. Hopefully these new changes and features will keep players engaged long-term.
Destiny 2: Forsaken launches September 4 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
