Google Play Protect Ranked Worst Antivirus Tool
In 2017, the tech giant Google launched a new security measure, Google Play Protect, designed to passively protect all Android users from malware by analyzing the devices in the background, detecting and eliminating all threats.
The tech giant Google has continued to improve this security feature with the intention of eliminating the problem of malware, an increasingly worrying problem that endangers Android users. Unfortunately, it seems that the tech giant Google’s security measure, of course, Google Play Protect is like having nothing, or at least that’s what AV-Test shows.
AV-Test is a well-known platform that is in charge of testing the different antivirus and security solutions for the different operating systems in order to prove their effectiveness and allow users to know if they are really safe and reliable and what impact they have on the overall performance of equipment and devices.
Three weeks ago, this platform published a new comparison with the best antivirus for Windows 10, demonstrating that Windows Defender, the tech giant Microsoft’s antivirus, has become one of the best antiviruses for this operating system. Now it’s Android’s turn, and, with the new report published by this platform, we can know which are the best and the worst antivirus we can find for Android.
The worst antivirus for Android, starting with Google Play Protect
As AV-Test indicates in the following link, the worst antivirus we can find for Android is Google Play Protect, the tech giant Google’s own antivirus integrated into Google Play Services that protects all devices to prevent malware from infecting them and, In addition, it is responsible for the security of the Play Store.
According to the report, this antivirus has obtained a note regarding protection of 0 out of 6 points, the lowest note ever seen in the AV-Test tests, and that is, while the average of the security industry is located in detections of 97%, this antivirus has barely been able to detect 50% of the samples analyzed and has only found 70% of the latest threats in real time.
At least, Google Play Protect has not had false positives (of course, it does not detect them) and has no impact on the battery either, so simply having this antivirus is like having nothing.
The antivirus of the tech giant Google is not the only one that has taken this crown, as the other antivirus, such as TrustGo, OnVaccine, and Ikarus Mobile Security have obtained a score of 2, 3 and 5.5 out of 6 in terms of protection. While all the other antivirus analyzed have achieved a score of 6 out of 6, maximum score in protection.
Since its first year of life, the tech giant Google’s most used operating system, of course, Android has a problem: the malware, and despite the tech giant Google’s attempts to end this threat, today is still something very dangerous, worrisome, difficult to solve and that, despite of Google Play Protect, still has no solution. We hope that the tech giant Google will put the batteries, as the tech giant Microsoft has done with Windows Defender, to turn Play Protect into something really effective.
