Cyberpunk 2077 Playable from Start to Finish | Gaming News

As CD Projekt Red recently reminded fans, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a huge game, with the studio having revealed that the forthcoming action-RPG’s quests will be like The Witcher 3‘s in terms of playtime and complexity. Despite its seemingly ever-expansive scope, though, the studio has finally reached a development milestone with the new title by declaring that the game is now from to finish.

This much was confirmed during gamescom 2018, with Cyberpunk 2077 producer Richard Borzymowski stating that even though it’s playable in-studio at CD Projekt Red, the developer still has a ways to go when it comes to being fully completed. According to Borzymowski, the game currently lacks all of the proper assets, and doesn’t have playtesting or bug fixes in place, but bearing witness to the story coming together has been a critical step in the company’s development process.

For those unaware, Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development for at least six years, so this is definitely a big achievement for CD Projekt Red in the creation process. Unfortunately, however, it doesn’t necessarily provide a solid time frame as to when fans should expect the game to officially hit store shelves. In fact, the developer has previously stated that it’s aiming for a current-gen release date for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but it still hasn’t made any promises about hitting that mark just yet.

Taking all of this into account, while it looks like CD Projekt Red is steadily making progress on finishing Cyberpunk 2077, it definitely doesn’t make the wait any easier for fans of the video game developer. With any luck, though, one can only hope that CD Projekt Red’s work continues unimpeded from setbacks and that the project’s development length doesn’t wind up being extended until the actual year 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 currently lacks an official release date, but is expected to launch for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
