How to Keep Your Kid From Messing With Your Netflix History – Info Tips and Tricks
Parents who share a Netflix account with their families know the distinct pain. After putting your kids to bed, you sit down to watch a sexy new drama (or for me, The Great British Baking Show), and up pops on your TV screen: “Because you watched Lalaloopsy: Festival of Sugary Sweets, here’s Luna Petunia, My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake!” Your shows! What happened to all your shows?!
Your account has been tampered with—again.
Engineer and dad Mike Angiulo got fed up with his offspring messing up his Netflix history and lists, so he came up with a sneaky solution that he shared with binge-watching moms and dads everywhere: Change your profile name to something your kids would not want to click. For example, on Angiulo’s account, “Dad” became “Install Windows Updates Now.”
Other names that could work include: World News, Shut Down or Delete Netflix. All those click-happy fingers will stay far, far away.
You can also go the opposite route and change your kids’ profile icons to something more fun, like characters from Trollhunters. (Just click “Manage Profiles” and select the edit icon on the profile you wish to change.)
Either way, as you sit back on your sofa next to an invasion of Shopkins and Hatchimals, you can watch your own damn shows like the adult you are.
