Facebook Is Tweaking the Navigation Bar in Its iOS, Android Apps – Info Advertisement
Users will be alerted when shortcuts change on their navigation bars
Facebook is customizing the navigation bars in its flagship iOS and Android applications to reflect the products that people use most.
The navigation bar—which appears at the bottom of the screen on iOS and at the top on Android—will still include shortcuts to News Feed, notifications and menu, but the remaining slots will rotate between Facebook Watch, Facebook Marketplace, groups and friend requests, depending on how often the user accesses those features.
The revamped navigation bar will roll out to iOS and Android users globally in the coming weeks, and users will be alerted when shortcuts change on their navigation bars.
Facebook said the more someone uses a shortcut, the more likely it will appear in their navigation bars, adding that features that do not appear on the navigation bar are always accessible via the menu shortcut.
Product manager Alexa Andrzejewski said, “We want the shortcuts available in the navigation bar to reflect how an individual uses Facebook. To that end, we’re customizing mobile shortcuts so everyone can more easily connect with their most frequently used products, such as profile, Marketplace, groups, Watch and friend requests.”
