Distressed Brush Technique Question – Info Graphic Design

Hey Folks,

I tried posting this in /r/design but didn’t have much luck. I was wondering if anyone has some insight as to how this ‘distressed brush’ technique on the Drake illustration was implemented? Are they using a photoshop/illustrator effect or is this an actual textured brush perhaps? I recently came across hoodzpahdesign.com on some adobe live videos and was digging their illustrative style and techniques!

Any links or references to nice distressed brushes or techniques would be awesome!
