More Personalization Was Added to Profiles in Workplace by Facebook – Info Advertisement
Workplace by Facebook revealed some new features aimed at boosting collaboration by employees using the social network’s answer to Slack.
Product marketing manager Sabrina Morsello introduced the new features in a blog post, highlighted by Workplace Profiles.
Workplace Profiles enable users to personalize their profiles with information including:
- Fields for division and organization, so that more clarity can be provided on users’ roles, responsibilities and skills.
- Support for multiple phone numbers and extensions.
- A new biography section.
- A section for languages spoken by the user.
The search functionality in Workplace by Facebook also received a kick-start with the introduction of People Directory, which enables users to search for fellow employees “based on a combination of profile field filters.”
In addition, colleagues’ work anniversaries and birthdays can be celebrated with GIFs and stickers, as long as they added that information to their Workplace Profiles, which is “completely optional for each user.”
Morsello also detailed the controls available to Workplace by Facebook administrators, writing, “Every organization is unique—the structure, the people and the information your community cares about. That’s why we’re now providing Workplace system admins control over Workplace People Profiles—so you control the information that’s important to you.”
Admins can access the Edit Profile Template menu to determine which fields are visible or hidden and who can edit those fields.
Only admins, users or identity providers will be able to make those edits, and admins can edit user profiles directly from their profile pages, “to make community management even easier.”
