HELP! Someone registering my email on a bunch of sites, but using the password I know to create them. I don’t understand what they’re doing or why – Info CCrime

This morning I received a text message from PayPal asking me to confirm a $435 payment I was trying to make. I declined the payment and immediately logged in to see what was going on. It looks like someone had changed my preferred method of payment to 3 different cards I had on there (luckily – I haven’t used PayPal in about 10 years, so all of those cards were way outdated) and they had changed the preferred email address to one I did not recognize. I contacted PayPal regarding all of this and they sent back a generic, “We’ve determined this was unauthorized” email back.

So, I deleted my PayPal account. Took all the cards off and closed the account. But now I’m getting all of these emails from various online stores asking me to confirm my password and welcoming me to the site. What’s weird is that, whoever is doing this, is not only using my email address but also using the same password I used for PayPal.

Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do to stop this and/or what the fuck this dude is doing? Thanks
