God of War Still Hides a Secret No One Has Found | Gaming – Info News

There have a been a lot of interesting secrets and Easter eggs found in God of War since its release in April. Everything from a reference to Marvel’s Infinity Stones to directions to hidden gear found in the cloth map packaged with the collector’s edition. But it seems that at least one more is still tucked away in the game somewhere.

There were two God of War panels at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and during one of them, a fan asked game director Cory Barlog about this elusive last secret. Barlog gladly offered up a hint, suggesting fans search Kratos’ home. Since then, a dedicated group of players has been checking every floorboard, every nook and cranny of the house to uncover its secrets. They have found something, but it is not quite what they expected.

There are story spoilers ahead, so proceed with caution.

There is a subreddit that has been set up specifically for finding God of War secrets, and this last one has been a large focus for the group. So far, the best these sleuths have found are runes littered around the house that, when combined, spell out “Loki.” Anyone who has played through the game already knows that Loki was the named originally given to Atreus by his mother.

The community is split on this discovery, with some believing that this couldn’t possibly be the big secret Barlog was hinting at, and others are more accepting, but not necessarily too happy about it. Until Barlog confirms the find, players will continue to search high and low for the game’s last secret.

If players are looking for another reason to dive back into God of War, outside of searching for hidden Easter eggs, the game will be getting a New Game Plus mode in the future. It has been one of the most requested features since the title released, so fans were delighted when it was announced during an intermission at Sony’s E3 2018 press conference. There is no set release date for this feature, nor were there details disclosed at the event about what would be included in this new playthrough, but eager fans can expect to hear more soon.

As for the future of the franchise, it appears that developer Santa Monica Studio is already beginning production. The studio listed an open position for a concept artist on its website recently, with creation of  “high quality characters, gods” listed among the job’s description. This suggests that pre-production on the sequel could be underway, and the studio is steadily filling up its ranks with fresh talent.

God of War is available now for PlayStation 4.
