Challenge – IAM Groups and Roles

Identity and Access Management, or IAM, is a fundamental concept to AWS security. With it, you can control user access to different resources in your account, as well as access between resources and services. In this challenge, you’ll test your ability to manage an environment with several users that need to perform various functions in your organization, as well as different resources that need to interact with one another. Once you’re finished, you’ll have implemented a role-based access scheme for your account users and secure communication for a photo upload feature in a web application.

Challenge – Securing Traffic with WAF

Firewalls are a key component to any web application. They can be used to control and secure traffic to your app, preventing a number of potential problems from SQL injection attacks to malicious bot activity. In this challenge, you’ll face these issues and others using Amazon Web Application Firewall (WAF). When you’re finished, you’ll have shown your skills in configuring a more secure application with filters to block unwanted traffic.

Challenge – Auditing AWS Infrastructure for Security

As your infrastructure grows in complexity, managing security needs can become challenging. Amazon Config, however, lets you audit the resources in your account by reporting configuration changes that could potentially affect the security of your system. In this challenge, you’ll use Config to audit an existing system. And when you’re done, you will have an efficient auditing solution that allows you to quickly respond to misconfigured resources!

Challenge – Monitoring Infrastructure with CloudWatch

Monitoring is critical to running applications in the cloud. Without it, you have no visibility into the performance of your infrastructure, and you have no way of knowing whether everything is working as expected. Amazon CloudWatch allows us to monitor our infrastructure quickly, simply, and at a low cost. In this challenge, you’ll test your skills in implementing a monitoring solution using CloudWatch.
