Adobe Acquires Mettle’s Skybox Plug-ins for 360-video and VR
Brands, media, editors and consumers alike are experimenting with immersive media and are looking for better ways to create and edit in 360-degree video and virtual reality. Adobe has been investing significantly in this space, and today we’re advancing our roadmap with the acquisition of Skybox plug-ins from Mettle.
By acquiring Mettle’s SkyBox plug-ins, we will integrate their functionality natively into Premiere Pro and After Effects, with the goal to make it available in the apps by the end of this year.
Mettle is a leader in 360/VR cinematic production and its plugins have been widely adopted by companies such as Facebook, Google, HBO, Dreamworks TV, CNN, The New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Time, LinkedIn, among many others.
We’re also thrilled to welcome Mettle co-founder Chris Bobotis who will join our team to help develop our 360 VR technology capabilities further. He has more than 25 years of production experience and will bring deep 360/VR knowledge and expertise to Adobe.
