Who else is mad that Oracle is now charging companies a monthly subscription to use Java for commercial products? – Info Java

Hello everyone, I recently got back into learning Java and decided to check out the Oracle website just for funsies. What I saw utterly shocked me.

Now, I am still a novice at Java, but I know well enough that what Oracle is doing to Java for commercial uses is bad. Very bad.

If you run a company and you want to use Java for commercial uses, you need to get a subscription now. If you had already bought the buy-once-it’s-yours deal, if you want Java updates, you have to buy a subscription.

I am utterly shocked on how Oracle became so greedy all of a sudden. I feel that this is especially unfair to the who bought the permanent package right before the new policy.

What do you guys think of this? If you have something to say against me, please don’t down-vote. Instead, comment what you think and I’ll try my best to answer.

I will read and up-vote every comment, but I may not be able to reply to each one.
